Education Over Incarceration

The War on Drugs has been going on for decades now, it has only escalated through time, and the price that we pay with it is overwhelming. It hasn't done it's main role, drugs still enter the country, people still do illegal drugs, and illegal drugs is one of the largest industries in the US. 

Bernie Sanders has a plan to end this broken cycle. First off, the legalization of marijuana on a federal level will create a legal multi-billion dollar industry in the US plus implement countless new jobs, and the tax from legal marijuana will be a good boost in the long-term. 

He also wants to change how the justice systems treats people serving time for drugs charges, he wants mandatory minimums to be out of the picture and he wants people to have a better chance in life after leaving jail, such as the chance to get a real job after prison and the ability to vote as well. 

He wants us to stop wasting trillions keeping people in prison, and instead use that money towards college education. For far too long we have been spending money on things that hurt people, it is long overdue for us to spend our tax dollars making sure that America is one of the smartest countries in the world, not the one with the high incarceration rate per capita. 

People say that free college is impossible, but with minor tax increases on the middle and lower class, major tax increase on the upper class and Wall Street, and spending our tax dollars in the right place, we will be able to start taking steps towards free public college.

Bernie's ideas may seem overwhelming to many, but with his combined plan, it is all very possible and can lead the United States of America in to a new era of prosperity.
