Disgraced Debbie: A Teen's View On Schultz

I still remember hearing the news and being pleasantly surprised, Tulsi Gabbard, a former Vice-Chair of the DNC, left the DNC, just so that she could openly support Bernie Sanders. I also remember when she said the DNC said that it would ruin her career if she did that. Guess what, it didn't.

I gained a lot of respect for Representative Gabbard when she boldly chose to stand up to the establishment she was a part of and support a candidate for the people. Her state of Hawaii later ended up voting for Bernie.

Anyway, this post isn't about the DNC as a whole, its about Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. If you know anything about this election, you'll know she's been that annoying mosquito that keeps biting you and you just can't slap it and at this point you have so many mosquito bites you're actually worried you might have the Zika virus.

That's basically her relationship with Bernie Sanders. The DNC isn't supposed to directly support any Democratic candidate until the general election, but Schultz has proved one thing, she is clearly, and very openly biased towards Hillary Clinton.

She has destroyed some of the progressive work that Obama put in, including the rule that limits how much money a candidate can get from a single donation. This led to Hillary being able to do that very expensive meal with George Clooney.

Honestly, I'm 19, I've heard over and over again that I don't understand how the world of politics works and that I'm still too young and naive and uneducated to make an educated opinion about all this. Well here's what I will say. I've been following this election extremely closely, I've had the opportunity to talk to some very important people via Twitter (Shaun King, Nina Turner, etc.) and I've listened closely to what they've said. I've also listened closely to what the other side has said, and from a logical standpoint, I have chosen Bernie over Hillary. The Revolution over the Establishment.

Now, I'm also a realist. I understand that Bernie's chance's are slim, but possible. I also understand that we can't just elect a progressive president, we have to elect a progressive Democratic party. Tim Canova, who's running against Schultz, is a prime example of someone I'd want running the DNC.

It's time to step out of the shadow of Wall Street and corporate greed. It's time we start electing people who want to help the people, all the people, not just themselves and a select few. Sure, I'm young, sure I'm still optimistic, but there's a reason for all that, and that's because I see real hope for change with Bernie Sanders and his political revolution. I don't see real change with Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Hillary Clinton.
