Don't Forget About New Jersey

On June 7th several states will vote to close out the primary: California, New Jersey, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and New Mexico. California, the largest state in America, has clearly been in the spotlight ever since the Kentucky and Oregon primary concluded. The spotlight on California has been bright, and it seems that the small, but heavily populated state of New Jersey has been forgotten about. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten.

New Jersey has a population of approximately 8.9 million according to the last concluded census. There are 142 delegates up for grabs, not counting the already pledged super delegates, which still, isn't a small number and if Bernie can win New Jersey or at least tie it up, it could make a huge difference going forward in the contested convention.

After losing New York and Pennsylvania, I can understand why Bernie would focus more on the west coast and California, but it's important that we don't forget about New Jersey.

We have to phonebank, canvas, and make sure that everyone in New Jersey shows up en masse. Winning New Jersey or at least having a good showing is beyond important. The other states voting on the 7th, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and New Mexico, are all decently small states. New Mexico, the most populated, has about 2 million people living in the state. Bernie is already more than likely to win these states, but New Jersey is still in the air.

Both California and New Jersey are still uncertain. Bernie has put a lot of focus on California, but it is up to us, the people, to make sure that we can also win New Jersey. If Bernie can win all the states that are voting on the 7th, that will send a powerful message across the nation and to the Democratic Party.

If Bernie does debate Trump, it will give him the needed before the voting starts on the 7th. If he does well in the debate it could turn many votes and people who are on the edge could vote for Bernie over Hillary. So with the coming debate, and if we can up the ante on New Jersey, we should be able to make New Jersey a Bernie state.

Let's do everything we can. It's not over till it's over. A contested convention is the future and a Bernie presidency is still possible!

  1. The Bernie team getting people registered and checking their status would be a big asset to this. They got 200,000 new voters registered in a month. They made nearly a half million calls. And those facts are good one to state to NJ people who think Sanders is a lost cause in their state. Michigan's primary vote results flouted the polls - those polls were off by 12 to 16 points!

  2. Bravo for you. As in any closed primary we need to push to make voters understand they have to change their political party to democratic if a republican or an independent. They can declare as an independent following the primary. Close primaries are just another way to rig the nominating process. At 61 I know this for a fact.

My message to NJ voters is, "When we stand united behind a common cause we can effectively bring about political, economic, and social change. Women's Suffrage in getting women the vote AND the Civil Rights Movement proved that. Both movements were joined by persons of all ages and all races. Of course not very many men joined the Women's Suffrage movement but did work anonymously in the background. We can bring about the same change today. "Call it Americans for fairness in the political process", or something else it can encompass many things.
